Mouse lab

Mouse drag and hold test

Hold the primary button for a chosen duration and inspect whether a release arrives before the target.

How to use this check

Start, then use a physical mouse inside the outlined area. Button numbers follow the browser mapping. Touch input is not counted as mouse input.

What the browser measures

Hold the primary button continuously for the target period, then release. An early release is an observation, not proof of a faulty switch.

Reading the result

Choose five seconds, hold continuously, then release. A release at two seconds is highlighted as early. The browser cannot know whether you intentionally released, so reproduce it while watching your finger and the log.

Why results can differ

A browser observes events exposed by your operating system. One test cannot establish whether a device is faulty. Connection, settings, focus and browser behavior can change the results.
